Gratitude in November

“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings” -William Arthur Ward

It is hard to believe that it is already November, and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. November has always been synonymous with being thankful,  but did you know that November is actually National Gratitude Month?  From expressing  thankfulness in journals to the donation of time and money, there are many opportunities in November to show gratitude.  What would the world be like if we practiced gratitude all year around?

This idea caused us to reflect on the many galas and events that we have hosted at Old Glory Ranch on behalf of groups such as WAG, the Wimberley Players, and MYNK.  We loved having the community visit our venue, as we worked to raise money and awareness of local causes. As we reminisced, we realized we have missed this small way of giving back to our community.  It wasn’t long before the idea for our monthly concert series was born. We then linked the idea of giving and gratitude with the musical talent in the Hill Country, and our Sunday Concert Series became a reality.

Our first musical guest was Jimmy Davis.  It was a perfect beginning as Jimmy played with such an infectious joy to raise awareness and funds for My Neighbor’s Keeper (MYNK).

In September, we hosted Beat Root Revival on behalf of Emily Ann Theater and we were inspired by their kind nature and abundance of talent.

October was an extra special month as we hosted a Corn Hole Tournament to raise money and awareness for Rett Syndrome, before ending the evening with tunes from Texas Renegade.  Rett Syndrome and Awareness which affects one of our own  OGR families, so it seemed a perfect coupling with the music series.  We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day or delightful crowd.

Our series continues on Veterans Day, November 11th.  We will be supporting our local VFW’s Veterans Relief Fund while enjoying music by Adam Carroll.

On December 9th, we hope to raise funds for our local Wimberley Valley Radio Station with Jeff Plankenhorn. We look forward to continuing this feeling of gratitude throughout 2019,  as we learn about more non-profits in the community and give them an avenue to have their voices  heard.

We hope to see you at one of our Sunday Concert Series soon or maybe even all of them!
