After a particularly rough day at work, there’s nothing quite like a marriage proposal to lift your spirits: “I was upset that Brandon seemed so quiet that evening,” Virginia says, recounting her blue mood. “When I asked Brandon what was wrong, he responded with, ‘There’s something I’ve been meaning to talk to you about.’” Virginia’s brief moment of panic changed to elation when Brandon followed by telling her, with tears in his eyes, “that he’d thought of so many big plans for the proposal, but at the end of the day he wanted to ask in ‘our place,’ and that the back porch would continue to be our place for all the years to come.”
Their wedding at Old Glory Ranch in the beautiful Texas Hill Country expressed their love of family and the comforts of home, with a warm, welcoming, Texas-style celebration. “Our venue made it a stress-free affair,” says Virginia. The ceremony took place inside Old Glory’s lovely chapel beneath stained-glass windows and wood-beam ceilings. A charming patio reception featured string lights and rustic touches, while “beer burros” toted refreshments to thirsty guests. The evening’s comfort-food menu of brisket and mac-and-cheese kept guests fortified for hours of dancing, until the spectacular fireworks finale and the newlyweds’ getaway in a charming antique truck. Notes the bride, “The night was absolutely magical!”
