A year ago this month, I was asked to marry the love of my life in a town that was deemed one of my favorites since I had moved to Texas. We both enjoyed how quaint Wimberly was while offering lots to do; good restaurants, wine bars, trails etc. We both knew that Wimberly was the town that would forever hold the memory of one of the most important chapters of our life… where we would marry one another. We looked at a couple venues on our phones, just scrolling through Google Photos and reading quick descriptions of what made each memorable. We came across Old Glory Ranch the same way and instantly were so excited to check it out in person. From the first email, Suzanne and Emily (the owner and wedding planner) were very quick to respond and answer any questions. A couple weekends later we headed out to Wimberly to check out Old Glory Ranch in person. As you drive through the beautiful winding roads leading to the property, you’re met by the Blanco river running along side you. It’s peaceful and only the start of what’s to come. As we entered the property we both were taken aback looking at how massive the grounds were. The chapel is absolutely stunning and demands your attention as you venture in past the gate. We met with Suzanne who was incredibly professional, welcoming and informative about what was to be expected going forward. She showed us previous weddings and events that were held there; each looking beautiful and carefully put together with love and great detail. After leaving me and my husband both looked at each-other and just knew that this was the place. From the moment we spoke to Suzanne it was clear that choosing Old Glory Ranch was the best decision for us and our day. Not one part of planning our wedding was difficult or chaotic because of the staffs help and experience. As most who go into planning a wedding, it’s new and can be overwhelming… with their help it felt the opposite. Because of that our day was one of the most memorable and beautiful things me and my husband have been a part of. As the wedding day came closer it was clear how invested everyone was in helping us feel at ease in the upcoming days. As with our first meeting with the staff, where everything was carefully constructed in preparation came the day of our wedding. Every moment was laid out exactly as planned and flowed so effortlessly. There are many venues and places that deserve recognition, however, as two individuals who love the outdoors and wildlife, it was the easiest decision to go with this beautiful venue. My husband and I recently eloped at OGR and the experience could not be faulted. We travelled all the way from Australia and from the beginning the process to organise everything was made super easy due to the professionalism, friendliness and effort put in from Suzanne and Kim. They were quick to answer any questions and extremely welcoming - especially when we finally made it from Aus. The actual wedding day went smoothly (despite the photographers who we had booked ourselves being a hour late due to bad traffic coming from San Antonio) Suzanne and Kim were flexible with the timings and happy to work around this by going above and beyond to accommodate us. Kim was a fantastic wedding planner, keeping us to timings so that we got the most out of the time we had booked for use of the property and she even offered to act as a baby sitter to our 4 month old during the ceremony and photography afterwards - something we very much appreciated. Wade was lovely and positioned the vintage truck in the perfect place for photos. The ladies who arranged the florals did a brilliant job, including making the cutest boutonniere for our son to wear . We stayed in Suzanne’s log cabin and this was truely a magical place, so much love and care went into every aspect of the log cabin, the personal touches and detail was phenomenal. There is so much more I could go into to describe how fantastic our experience was but I would be writing all day. Thank you so much to everyone who made our special day happen. The team at Old Glory worked together so well and made sure everything was in place and went smoothly. The venue itself is set in the gorgeous Texas Hill Country. The beautiful Blanco River below and the swaying majestic cypress trees above made the perfect backdrop for their wedding ceremony. We were then shuttled up to the patio and reception hall that was like a step back in time. The patio created the perfect outdoor space for cocktail hour. Everyone enjoyed visiting under the old oak trees that created a wonderful cool respite from the sun that came out mid-way through the ceremony. The old wagons and barrels were tastefully decorated with greenery and flowers making a wonderful site for the bride and groom's arrival to the reception. Inside the reception hall, the wood gleamed in the candlelight and other lighting and created the ideal setting for dinner. The team at Old Glory worked hard to keep tables cleared so that guests could enjoy their dinner, cake and drinks throughout the evening.
